ModalPopupExtender and Chrome / Safari

I was writing an app with the AJAX toolkit and everything seemed fine. The ModalPopupExtender was behaving normally and opening with IE7/8 and Firefox.

Chrome and Safari, however, where behaving differently. The popup would still show, however, it would be behind the background and disabled. After a friend inspected the generated HTML, he found that on Safari and Chrome, the toolkit didn’t explicitly write out the CSS Z-index property on the popup layer.

The solution was to manually specify a Z-index that was bigger than the Z-index of the background class.
